On October 4th and 5th, 2007, St. David’s Community Health Foundation sponsored the Lifting Teen Families Summit at the Hyatt Regency in Austin.  The goal of the Summit was to showcase successful programs that work with pregnant and parenting teens, and create a comfortable forum for dialogue between program directors and funding institutions.

Over 150 people attended the Summit, including representatives from school districts, nonprofit organizations, funding institutions, and state agencies. With a mix of keynote speakers, panel presentations, and small-group discussion, participants had the opportunity to understand the challenges and opportunities facing programs for pregnant and parenting teens and identify strategies for strengthening programs in Texas.

St. David’s Community Health Foundation published a report on the Summit in Winter 2008. The report was sent to all Summit participants.  If you did not attend the Summit, but would like to receive this report, please email Becky Pastner.

Following up on the success of the 2007 conference, a 2008 conference, "What Works..." was scheduled for November 10-13, 2008. For more details, please visit the TACSAP website by clicking here.
